Volunteer social worker Rika stumbles across the curse when she finds an almost catatonic old woman in a shambles of a home, a spooky little boy with a froggy voice and a veritable black hole of a phantom that seems to be sucking the life from the old lady. The story then jumps back and forth along the timeline in a series of chapters named for the characters haunted and hunted by the unsettled souls.

The vengeful spirits of Kayako and Toshio return to exercise their deadly grudge against any living person who crosses their paths. Four women’s lives are very badly affected due to that encounter.

Driving home one night an actress and her husband hit what they think is a cat. It soon find out that they picked up an extra passenger, the vengeful blue child Toshio, who causes them to crash. The husband is put in intensive care and the wife miscarriage.

But there’s a whole lot worse to come.

A man brutally and methodically murders all five of his family members after failing the bar exam. He then hangs himself, leaving behind a cassette recorder at the scene, on which he can be heard saying, “Go… Go now.”

A Nurse named Yuko has a strange experience while taking care of a girl named Fukie. Test results show that Fukie has a cyst, but that cyst is actually the leftover grudge from an unborn baby. The grudge spreads to Fukie and everyone around her. Soon Fukie’s father goes mad and commits a murder. Fukie’s sister Mariko has special spiritual power, and together with their mother, they have some success driving out the evil spirit.

But the worst of the grudge is yet to come.

An elementary school teacher named Yui visits a boy named Toshio Saeki at his home. When she arrives, she re-lives the horrific tragedy which occurred in the Saeki household 10 years earlier. A cardboard box left in a closet holds the key to revealing a long-hidden truth.

Mai, the older sister of elementary schoolteacher Yui Shono, goes looking for her missing sister . Uncovering the dark secrets of Ju-on, she will try to end the curse once and for all…
