Synopsis

Having lost all memory of her parents in an air raid during childhood, Nakahara Fumi grew up without ever knowing the warmth of hearing her name called by her mother or father. Struggling to survive in postwar Japan, she has spent her life searching for the fragments of a past that was taken from her. Even as she faces the end of her life, Fumi continues to attend memorial services for the war dead, clinging to scattered memories in hopes of discovering the home where she was born and the names of her parents.
During a long-term stay at a hotel, she crosses paths with young hotel manager Tajima, who is being forced out as the business faces financial collapse. Burdened by their own personal hardships, the two women gradually form a deep bond. As their lives intertwine, the time that had long stood still for both of them begins to move forward once again.
