Synopsis

This story is a “1988 Youth-Recovery Human Comedy” that follows the reunion and rebirth of adults looking back and thinking, “Life wasn’t supposed to turn out like this.”

The protagonists are a mismatched trio – Yoshii Yuta, known as Yun; Fujimaki Hajime, known as Chen; and Kikuhara Kisuke, known as Kinpo; three men whose appearances and personalities couldn’t be more different.
Back in 1988, during their middle school days, they were devoted members of the school’s film research club, completely absorbed in making kung-fu movies. Now, they’re all 51 years old.

Feeling stuck in life and thinking “This isn’t how things were supposed to be,” the three men are shaken when news breaks that human bones were found at a construction site in Tanbe City, the town they grew up in.
Kisuke reaches out to Yuta and Hajime, leading to their first reunion in about 37 years.
As they reminisce, they notice their memories of the film club advisor they once admired have grown oddly vague, and a note found with their old group photo reads “Missing.”
Driven to learn the truth behind her disappearance, the trio launches a new investigation.
