Ueno Juri Lead Role in Taiga Drama “Gou”
Actress Ueno Juri will star in the next NHK Taiga drama “Gou: Himetachi no Sengoku” (Gou: The Princesses’ Warring Country) which will air in January of next year. An official poster of the Taiga drama was unveiled on the 17th and portrays a strong and flexible female presence. Ueno’s hair is flowing in the air like water (the Japanese character “Gou” also means river) and provides a stark image against the icy background.
At the heart of the drama, it’s a love story. The story of a country in civil war is told from a female’s point of view. This drama will be somewhat different compared to recent Taiga dramas and historical dramas in regards to military commanders and princesses.
