Sugai Yuuka and Nakamura Yurika Reflect on Chaser Game W2
Interview with Sugai Yuuka and Nakamura Yurika from Chaser Game W2. This time, the sweet relationship between Itsuki and Fuyu, which has become even closer than in the previous series, is the highlight.
From September 19, 2024, the TV drama Chaser Game W2: Beautiful Celestial Goddesses (*Chaser Game W2* for short) will air on TV Tokyo every Thursday at 12:30 AM (the first episode starts at 12:40 AM).
In the first season that aired in January 2024, Chaser Game W: My Ex-Girlfriend is My Power Harassing Boss tackled societal issues such as LGBTQ+, labor problems, and sexual harassment, making waves in the process. It ranked number one globally in the GL/LESBIAN genre on the LGBTQ+ content streaming platform “GagaOOLala,” gaining a massive fanbase worldwide. This new season is a continuation of that success.
Returning as the dual leads from the previous season are Sugai Yuuka as Harumoto Itsuki and Nakamura Yurika as Hayashi Fuyu. This season also introduces a new character, Park Yeoreum, a Korean influencer, played by Chise.
In the previous season, Itsuki worked at a game development company, but she has now become a café manager. Fuyu, who was a career woman working for a major Chinese content company, is now a full-time housewife. The transition of their lives is a point of curiosity in this series.
On August 31, 2024, after filming wrapped up, a press conference for the show was held. Here’s a report on the interview with the leads.

Question: What are the highlights of Chaser Game W2?
Nakamura: I think this season reflects the ideal vision of “ItsuFuyu” that fans have been longing for, as well as the desire for the characters to progress in their relationship. The love between the two, their sense of distance, and how they handle family matters and their struggles with that will feel more realistic than in the previous season.
Sugai: Despite being thrown into various circumstances, Fuyu, her beloved family, and Itsuki are trying to find happiness together. I hope viewers will watch over their choices. There might be moments when viewers feel like saying, “What are you doing, Itsuki?” but I think it reflects how life doesn’t always allow us to do the right thing all the time. We worked hard, discussing with the director and Yurika-chan on set to create something meaningful, so I hope people enjoy the thrilling, heart-pounding moments.

Question: Unlike the previous season, where they were at odds, it seems like we can expect some sweet scenes this time around.
Nakamura: In the last season, the script didn’t say “feed each other,” but the director added that during filming. The discussions on set were so valuable. This time as well, there are scenes where the characters reaffirm their love for each other, and I think the way they express care, through gestures like how they hold each other’s hands, will be a key point to watch.

Question: The show also delves deeper into their past this time. How was the filming experience?
Sugai: We’re depicting changes over 13 years, from high school to when they’re 28. I played Itsuki while keeping in mind how the character evolves throughout those years, jumping back and forth in time. We actually went to a real school, with the help of local students, which made it feel like we were truly reliving those high school days. It was a fun shoot.

Question: The set atmosphere seems enjoyable. With Season 2 following the success of the first, did you feel any pressure?
Nakamura: It was reassuring and fun. When I heard about the production, I was happy because I knew we could overcome challenges together and rely on each other.
Sugai: It was a relief. Having built trust already, we could dive into the work feeling secure, which made me excited that we could create something even better. I even brought fan-made goods from the fan meeting to the set and used them during filming. I’m determined to work hard and meet everyone’s expectations!
That concludes the interview.
Not only on set but also in their private lives, the two refer to each other as “Yukka” and “Yurika-chan,” showing just how close they’ve become. Their chemistry on-screen raises even more expectations for the upcoming season.
