Toho announced on 12/15 that Studio Ghibli will be releasing a new film titled, “Kokuriko Zaka Kara” this coming summer in 2011, which will be directed by Miyazaki Goro.
This will be Miyazaki Goro’s second time to direct a movie, the first being 2006’s “Gedo Senki” (Earthsea). Miyazaki Goro is Miyazaki Hayao’s eldest son.
“Kokuriko Zaka Kara” was originally a shojo manga that was serialized in the manga magazine “Nakayoshi” in 1980. The story takes place at Yokohama’s harbor in 1963 and follows some high school students post-World War II during the rapid economic growth. Miyazaki Hayao is in charge of the design and script.
