Mizushima Hiro Declines 20 Million Yen Award For Novel

Mizushima Hiro Poplar Novelist AwardActor Mizushima Hiro published a novel under his real name, Tomohiro Saitō, and won first prize in Poplar Publishing’s Best Novelist for Fiction, but he has declined the 20 million yen (roughly 200K in USD) award as he stated on his formal Twitter account.

We’re unsure if he understands his actions since he concluded, “Rather than do this officially, I secretly hid myself thinking it would be ideal to receive support this way.”

Editor’s Note: It sounds like Mizushima Hiro wants to be taken seriously as a novelist and didn’t want his popularity as an actor affect his chances in anyway.
