What is Drama Club? It’s a monthly podcast where amrayu, catstreet and mango from Drama-Otaku.com chat about a Japanese drama, movie or special that they’ve seen. Each month will center around a theme. We will announce the dramas, movies, or specials that we’ll watch beforehand so you can watch along with us. 🙂

This month’s theme is a celebration for Miura Haruma and Takeuchi Yuko who both celebrated birthdays in April. We also lost them to suicide in 2020 at the start of the pandemic. We picked Last Cinderella for Miura Haruma for May and Miss Sherlock for Takeuchi Yuko in June. This episode of Drama Club is an ode to an actor that was taken from us too soon. He lives on forever on screen for us.

Last Cinderella is about a single 39 year old woman, Sakura, who works at a beauty salon. We follow her love life (or lack thereof) as she gets coached by her two best friends, Miki and Shima, who have their own relationship issues. Does Sakura end up with Hiroto, the young and hot 24 year old BMX rider, or does she end up with her childhood friend, Tachibana, who she sees as more of a sibling?
