A press conference for the Hollywood co-produced drama, “Tokyo Vice” in Tokyo with cast members Ansel Elgort, Watanabe Ken, Kikuchi Rinko, Ito Hideaki, Kasamatsu Sho, and Yamashita Tomohisa.

Michael Mann is serving as executive producer and director of the first episode. “Tokyo Vice” is a 8 episode drama series produced by Japan’s WOWOW and America’s HBO Max. The story is based on a non-fiction book by an American journalist who worked in Japan as a newspaper reporter and shows the ferocity and underbelly of Tokyo in the 90s.

Ansel Elgort, who is portraying a crime reporter Jake, spoke about his co-stars. Here’s a few snippets from the press conference:

“Watanabe Ken is a legend. It’s an honor to be working with him. I first saw him in ‘Inception’ and I was impressed by his facial expressions and voice. I was also very moved by “Letters from Iwojima.”

“Ito Hideaki invited me to his hometown and I made lots of good memories there.”

“I love Sho’s acting. He’s a great actor with cool and mysterious charm.”

“Kikuchi Rinko expresses her emotions in such a realistic and free way.”

Although Ansel didn’t have any scenes with Yamashita Tomohisa, he had this to say about him, “Tomohisa’s acting is so cool and everyone knows just by looking at him.”

In Japan, Tokyo Vice airs on April 7th, 2022 on WOWOW On Demand and on April 24th, 2022 on WOWOW Prime, WOWOW 4K.
