Former Sumo Champ’s Daughter Stars in Reality Series

Former Sumo champ, Chiyo no Buji Mitsugu’s (Akimoto Mitsugu) second daughter, Akimoto Kozue (23), who debuted as a model in 2009, will be starring in her first drama titled, “Shibuhara Girls” (on MTV starting 1/8/2011). In actuality, the drama is a reality series, the first of Japan’s kind. Reality series are superbly popular overseas, so now it’s Japan’s turn to take a stab at it. Akimoto will be portraying herself and she commented, “I’m not conscious of my acting. It’s just shot of me, Akimoto Kozue, living my day-to-day life. I want to see that gap. I think people will change their view of me being strong and cool completely. I want people to see a new side of me.”
